Spring brought a birthday, a beach hike, Easter, a lemonade stand, a trip to Monterrey, super heroes galore, gymnastics, a U2 concert, and lots of fun and play.
We had a wonderful and full Holidays in 2016. Angelica starred in her first live performance with her school’s ensemble performing ahead of the Willy Wonka play, it was a smashing success! We also had family hikes, Thanksgiving, ice skating, cookies with the Cantos, a few different family Christmases, and a wonderful visit to SF to see the decorations.
We started off summer with a great vacation down to Southern California to celebrate Tia Petra’s 95th birthday. It was also the first time all 5 of the Contreras cousins were together and the girls were very excited for that.
We stayed at a nice beach cottage in Redondo Beach, just a block off the pier and beach. The girls loved spending time at the beach, playing in the water and sand. It was a great start to the summer.
For 4th of July we stayed local and went to the Redwood City parade and celebrated with the Cantos family.
And then ended summer with a new addition to the family, a labradoodle puppy Penny!
We had a wonderful Spring time, celebrating several milestone birthdays a 5, 40, and 75!
We saw Frozen on Ice, discovered a great scone recipe, and had a Gymnastics party! For Spring break we took a road trip up to Portland, Oregon. It was two days of driving which was a lot for the little ones, but all in all pretty fun. Plus stopping at the Jelly Belly factory on the way home was a hit!
Wrapping up the Spring we were thrilled to have our cousins visit for Memorial Day weekend. We had a great time showing them around the Bay Area, even if a few things were closed. The girls were thrilled to see their cousins, and the boys were great with them.
The holidays included ice skating which we were happy to get Marisa out on the ice this year. My Mom came with us to Southern California to celebrate Christmas, and New Year’s we celebrated at home with the Cantos. A fun holiday season!
This summer we had a wonderful vacation to Hawaii. We are so grateful that Nonna shared her time-share with all of us, so the families and especially the girls could spend it with their cousins. They had such a good time and now even months later Marisa still asks when are we going back.
We extended it a couple of days and island hopped over to Oahu to visit Aulani, the Disney resort there. It was our first introduction to a Disney resort and it was fantastic, you can see my scenic shots of the resort.
Now that the weather has gotten cold, we can look at these summer photos to warm up.
We’re happy to continue our tradition with the Canto Family of making Christmas cookies and seeing the lights on Eucalyptus.
Posting our holiday photos a little late, but have to clear out the backlog before posting some of the more recent photos.
This was a wonderful Christmas season, Angelica is old enough to understand and appreciate it more which brings an extra level of enthusiasm. We enjoyed our family tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree with Papa Jim and Nana Grace and Marisa found some banana slugs. We also continued our tradition of making cookies with the Canto Family and seeing the Christmas lights. The girls had a wonderful time visiting and spending so much time in Southern California with our family there.
